Hello Lovely People..!!
I hope you are Healthy and happy..!!
I am here with another Food Blog Post today about giving my review on traditional thali served by Haveli.
A Traditional Thali
Firstly we need to talk about the origin of these thali system. In India, the big, fat Indian thali reflects the country's love for food as well as cultural and culinary homogeneity. every religion and state have their own localised thali different from other religion but reflecting the same concept of -having all the flavors in one plate. so there are various thali's served India like Punjabi thali, South Indian thali, Rajasthani thali, Gujrati thali , Bengali and list can go on.
Today I'm going to share about the traditional Punjabi thali served in various restaurants of Punjab. The most famous Restaurant in Punjab called "Haveli" is famous for its traditional culture and quality of their food. They served different types of thali's and One of the Thali they served to their customer is 'Haveli Special Thali' which is served in huge size of Plate made with brass which is traditionally served in ancient times to the 'Maharajas'. According to our Indian Culture, this is the supremacy way to serve them in such huge plate which is called "thali".
Haveli served their thali and a huge glass of Brass filled with water. This thali includes a Paneer (cheese) Dish, a traditional Daal (lentils), mix vegetables, Rice bowl, Raita (Curd), Salad, Indian pickle and papad (cracker), Different types of breads (Chapattis), and a sweet dish. Each and every dish is served in separate bowl (Katori). A sweet dish may or may not be the part of Thali as it charged more. These are the basic dishes which are included in the thali but one can customized their thali by adding their choice of dish into the thali.
On the basis of regional variations, In Punjabi thali there is Sarso Ka Saag with Makki Ki Roti is served in winters. In Gujrati thali, they add Khaman Dhokla or Sweet dish in their thali's. In the coastal areas of India, you'll find variations of fish and seafood in thali.
From a nutritional point of view, Indian thali is a balanced meal providing carbs, protein, vitamins, minerals and fibers. Dairy, which also plays vital role in the Indian cuisine, is used in the form of Ghee, curds or buttermilk. The combination of lentil, some Vegetables, Raita and pickle with good tadka (tempering) plus using different herbs and spices make the Indian thali wholesome. The concept of six taste, Madhura (Sweet), Amla (Salty), Lavana (Sour), Katu (Pungent), Tikta (Bitter), Kashyaya (Astringent) is central of Ayurveda. In Ayurveda, the presence of all six is crucial for a nutritious diet.
The Haveli thali includes all the six tastes mentioned in Ayurveda which makes it more delicious. other then this the ambience of the restaurant also make us feel like we are sitting in the previous time famous Maharajas Haveli and having our food in traditional way by sitting on Manjas (single bed made with jute). There are various attractions also placed in the restaurant like trucks, Single beds, Punjabi Women sitting and making food wearing traditional salwar suits. These are the things that the reason behind tourist attracts in this restaurant on a huge amount.
According to cost, this restaurant is not so budget friendly for the people who belongs to lower middle class but trying once in a while can be a good option because other then thali's , they offer different food options to their customers. They have many options in Snacks and street food like Chaat, Golgape (panipuri), Kachori, Channa Kulcha, Punjabi Naan and many more. They also offer various beverages like Lassi (buttermilk), Chai (tea), Coffee, Soft drinks, Mocktails etc. You can also enjoy different desserts and sweet dishes like Kheer, Phirni, Jalebi, Ice cream, Pastry, Gulab Jamun and many more.
